This year will be the 80th anniversary of Operation Overlord, the allied campaign to recapture occupied Western Europe, which began with the D Day landings in Normandy on 6 June 1944.

Local organisers in Wrexham who are taking part in the national commemorations have asked whether any of the fallen commemorated on the Minera war memorial are Normandy veterans, or if there are other memorials elsewhere with a Minera connection to the Normandy campaign.
