How the Council is Funded

Each year Minera Community Council sets itself a budget. Based on this planned expenditure, the Community Council receives an amount from Wrexham County Borough – the Precept.

The Precept is made up of a grant from the County Borough, based on the size of the community, and a levy added to Council Tax, based on what the Community Council requests to fund itself.

Minera Community Council budget is closely managed, and we make one of the smallest levies on the council tax payers of our community of any within Wrexham County Borough.

The budget is used for a variety of activities and projects – see “What the Council does“. We also try to maximise the budget by use of grants, many of which are match funded, and gifts in kind from local companies, to complete projects.
