Act of Remembrance

Minera held its Act of Remembrance at the war memorial in the centre of Minera on Saturday 13 November. A good turnout of residents enjoyed fair weather (a change from recent years when rain, wind and even a blizzard have intervened in proceedings). The service was led by Rev James Harris supported by Councillor John Edwards, an RAF veteran and Chair of Minera Community Council. Mrs Pat Edwards gave a reading as the service began and Cllr David Kelly read the names of the fallen. Bugler Lewis Hughes sounded the Last Post and Reveille either side of the 2 minutes of silence at 1100am. A wreath on behalf of North Wales Police was laid by PCSOs Catherine-Griffiths-Hughes and Sue Lawrence. Refreshments were kindly provided by the Tyn y Capel after the service, and were much appreciated by those present who went along to enjoy them.

Pictured are Cllr Hazel Field placing the Community Council’s wreath, and the memorial after the service decorated with further contributions and offerings from the people of the community.
